Siena and the Pilgrims of Massachusetts

Siena is much talked about in tourism circles -- in fact in 2008 TripAdvisor rated it one of the most favorite tourist destinations in Europe.

But the appeal of the city has long been known to students of architecture.

In fact, landscape and architectural photographer Paul Scharff points out the connection between the ramrod straight Torre del Mangia overlooking the Piazza del Campo in Siena with the Pilgrim monument commemorating the landing of the pilgrims in Massachusetts. See for yourself. Incredible indeed!
